Cookie policy
Last updated 19 October 2026
This policy lists the cookies and similar technologies on this website and explains how to control them. For how we handle personal data more widely, see our privacy policy.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website puts on your computer or phone. Similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, keep small pieces of information on your device in the same way. We call all of them cookies below unless the difference matters.
What we use
Nothing is set for analytics until you accept. Until then, and if you reject, no analytics cookies are set and the site makes no request to Google.
- Strictly necessary: we keep your cookie choice in your browser’s local storage so we don’t ask on every page. The site works without it, and it needs no consent.
- Analytics: Google Analytics counts visitors and shows how they move around the site, so we can improve it. It runs only if you accept.
- Cookieless analytics: we also use PostHog, which stores nothing on your device, so it sets no cookies and needs no choice from you.
We don’t use advertising or targeting cookies. We turn off Google signals and advertising features, so Google Analytics data isn’t used to personalise ads.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Lasts | Set by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Analytics, with your consent | Tells visitors apart so Google Analytics can count them | Up to six months, renewed while you keep visiting | Google Analytics |
| _ga_ followed by letters and numbers | Analytics, with your consent | Holds the state of your current visit | Up to six months, renewed while you keep visiting | Google Analytics |
| cookie-consent (local storage) | Strictly necessary | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected | Six months, then we ask again | This website |
Changing your choice
- Accept or reject in the banner when you first visit. The two buttons carry equal weight.
- Open Cookie settings at the foot of any page to change your mind. Rejecting or withdrawing deletes the Google Analytics cookies from your browser, including in other open tabs.
- If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal and you haven’t made a choice yet, we treat it as a rejection. A choice you make stays in effect until it expires or you change it.
- Delete or block cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them.
You can also stop Google Analytics collecting data about you on any website with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
